The train was full of shadows. Shadows sitting hunched, with their caps and coats hanging. Everyone swayed a little when the train started moving, the flaps of their sleeves like swings. I held the door open for her as she walked in. I knew she would fall, I knew she would break apart, yet I did it. I held the door open. I was walking on the stone paved streets in the middle of the night.
